Hello Mr. Davinder

Thank you for the wonderful time we had. I think of Amritsar and the golden temple often with a smile. I had a very good time, my only regret is that I stayed for so little time there. The heritage walk would deserve much more than 2 hours. Unfortunately that was all the time we could manage. But still it was worth it and I am very glad we did it! Thank you for the Knowledge that you shared with us I felt and fell still very blessed that I have met you. People like you restore my faith in humanity in these times so troubled. You were without a doubt in my mind the very best guide we ever had, and not only in INDIA but everywhere. I was impressed on how well you know your town and your temple.

I send you my very best wishes until we meet again,

Congratulations Mr Davinder on your great work of showcasing the Heritage of Amritsar. We were really fascinated listening to your narration, the history of the place in minute detail.  It is sad no doubt that you have no support from the authorities in  restoration of the grandeur of the place, even having a bit left of the Italian frescoes , the beautiful verandahs, reminding me of my trip to Cordoba in S Spain, but in pristine conditions as if still in 14th to 16th centuary. Ours may be 19th  to 20 centuary but now totally in shambles and a sheer waste of time , no hard feeling Mr Davinder but i do pray you can win over the civic and govermental authorities to restore some of it  if  at least,. It was great walking around with you but sad to see the dilapidated sites.

The walk covered major historical places of Amritsar city otherwise not known. The revelation of history of the city is the unforgettable gift that we brought along. Our visit would have been incomplete without the heritage walk.

It is 25 years since I last visited Amritsar and it has been a dream to return to this wonderful city.

Tomorrow I will leave my home in Bangkok and travel to Kolkata. By Monday I will be back in Amritsar again and I am really looking forward to it.

I hope to join you on the walk on one of the 3 days that I am there

Read about the Heritage Walk from Trip advisor.

Contacted Davinderji from Bangalore and ensured he was available for the Heritage walk.

The walk starts at Town Hall (walkable distance from Golden Temple/Jallianwala Bagh). Davinderji is passionate about the city and is eager to share his vast knowledge with the visitors.

His is a perfect person to educate visitors not only about the city and its sights but also about the rich history of Sikhism.

He walks you trough the bylanes surrounded by historical buildings of the British era, the landmarks that epitomize our freedom struggle as well as eateries that are a must-try.

We were mighty impressed and agreed readily when he asked us if we wanted to witness the 'Prakash' ceremony of the guru Granth sahibji at the Golden Temple. The ceremony is held at 4:00 AM. He explained us and got us into best vantage points to witness the activities at the Prakash ceremony. Thereafter he also took us around the complex and showed us the sikh museum, Gurudwara of Kaulan mata, The Langar kitchen and the Akal takth.

He also suggested us good places to eat and to shop for local specials.

Highly recommend Davinder ji to enhance your 'Amritsar experience'.

Thank you Davinderji !!
